Babylon owners should treat renting a home as a town permit question, not just a lease question. The town’s Rental Review Board page says a rental permit is required to legally rent a residential dwelling unit or entire home. The rental FAQ also covers permit requirements for non-owner-occupied homes and second units.
Before a tenant moves in, check the rental category, application, inspection, renewal period, and required safety items. Keep the property address, application, inspection record, and renewal date together.
A renter can use the Rental Review Board page and rental permit FAQ to ask whether the unit has a valid permit. Use the exact address when asking so the town can match the question to the property.
