An Essex County delinquent-tax payment goes smoother when the account details are gathered before the payment screen. The Treasurer route includes online card payments through GovPayNet for delinquent property taxes and delinquent tax installment payments. Those payment categories are separate, so match the account to the right category before entering card information.
For a delinquent property-tax payment, the needed pieces are the property owner’s name, property account number, year or years being paid, and payment amount. Essex also gives a rule of order: the current-year delinquent bill is paid before older years.
Installment plans are a separate conversation. The plan starts with Treasurer’s Office contact, and monthly credit-card payments may follow after the plan is set up. Questions go to the Treasurer at 518-873-3310.
The Real Property Tax Services site is a different tool. It links to assessor contact information and the Property Record Online System, and lists the office in Elizabethtown. For a messy file, keep the RPTS parcel record, Treasurer payment details, installment note, and confirmation number together. It is much easier to see what was looked up, what was paid, and which office gave the answer.
