Franklin local-office questions need the community directory

Franklin County's community directory helps residents find the right town or village before asking about local rules.

Franklin County’s community directory is a plain, useful map of who handles what. It includes Akwesasne, Bangor, Bellmont, Bombay, Chateaugay, Franklin, Harrietstown, Malone, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, Westville, and other local routes. Some links keep you inside county pages. Others send you to a town, village, or tribal government office. Malone may be the county seat, but it is not the answer to every North Country errand.

Use the directory before asking about dog licenses, highway notices, tax collection, meeting agendas, permits, code questions, or local records. The goal is to identify the actual municipality or government before calling, then ask the question once in the right place.

Have the street address, hamlet or village name, and the rule you are trying to confirm in front of you. One address can sit near a village line, a town office, a state highway, Adirondack Park context, or tribal government. The useful move is humble and practical: find the right counter before telling your story twice. Use the note as a small map. Communities and Rules belong with the right document, fee, appointment, or local doorway.
