Franklin County driveway permits are part of rural driving

Franklin County has the kind of road map where distance, weather, and access all matter. A driveway, roadside ditch, culvert, or heavy equipment move may look like a property job, but it can become a county highway question once it reaches the road.

The Franklin County Highway Department is the official place to start for county-road concerns. The department maintains more than 266 miles of roads and 188 county-owned bridges, removes snow and ice in winter, installs guide rails and road signs, and lists documents for driveway structures, work or structures on the county road system, and special hauling.

That is especially useful in a North Country county where a home, farm, camp, or business entrance may sit far from a larger service center.
