Genesee pistol permits have a Clerk office and a State Police lane
Genesee pistol-permit holders should keep County Clerk office work and State Police recertification in separate lanes.

Genesee County pistol-permit questions split into two lanes that are worth keeping apart. The local Pistol Permit Office is at the County Clerk’s Office, 15 Main Street in Batavia. Recertification is different: the county directs New York State pistol-permit recertification questions to the State Police, not the County Clerk.
That split helps a Batavia resident, a Le Roy mover, a Darien farm family, or someone in Pembroke, Bergen, Byron, or Oakfield ask a cleaner question. Is this an application, amendment, co-ownership, handgun registration, fee, duplicate, or other county office question? Or is it a State Police recertification question?
This is not legal advice and does not tell anyone whether to apply, own, carry, sell, or transfer a firearm. It is only an office map. Keep the Batavia County Clerk route and the State Police recertification route from getting tangled. The right lane can save a wasted call, a second trip, or a very frustrating afternoon of being sent from one office answer to another.
That small split is worth writing down because county permit work and state recertification work can feel like the same chore until the wrong office is on the line.
