Geneseo Permit Questions Start With Code Enforcement
For Geneseo work, start with the town code-enforcement page, then separate local permit questions from county planning review issues.

A Geneseo renovation or use change should start with the office that actually handles the local permit question. The Town of Geneseo Code Enforcement page says the office is in the Town Office Building and asks people to contact the office for an appointment. It links building and zoning permit applications, contractor registration, short-term-rental materials, fire-safety and property-maintenance permits, and sign permit material. Livingston County’s Planning Department is a different layer.
County records say it provides technical assistance to municipalities in land-use rules, economic development, and environmental protection. The County Planning Board also reviews and comments on municipal site plans, special-use permits, subdivisions, variances, comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, local laws, and moratoria. The next step is to call Geneseo Code Enforcement early, then ask whether the project also triggers county planning review.
Geneseo may need one office for a building permit and another for zoning or county review, depending on the address or record. The goal is to ask the right local question early. That can spare a second trip, a late fee, or a form sent to the wrong desk.
Have the address, use, project description, contractor question, and any sketch ready. Code Enforcement is the starting door; Livingston County Planning may be a later layer.
