A rural or edge-of-village Le Roy property can come with a private-water or septic question that belongs with county health, not the seller’s memory. Genesee County’s Private Water Wells and Septic Systems page says Environmental Health is responsible for onsite wastewater treatment systems, commonly known as septic systems.
It says staff help homeowners with permits for new systems, repairs, replacements, and inspections during property transfers. The broader Environmental Health page adds that the department inspects drinking water wells for property transfers and permits new well construction. Before assuming an old system is acceptable, ask Genesee County Health what applies to that parcel and work type.
Keep the address, parcel number, well or septic question, transfer timing, and planned work handy. A Le Roy mailing address does not answer the health question by itself; the county needs the parcel and the actual system issue.
