Before paying for home work in Rockland County, check the county license rule and licensed-business dashboard.

A Rockland home-improvement quote should come with one extra check before a deposit: the county license. Rockland County’s contractor page says that under Chapter 286 of the Rockland County Home Improvement Law, all individuals performing home improvement work must obtain a Home Improvement License.
The county also provides a Licensed Businesses Dashboard for checking businesses licensed through the Consumer Protection Department. Use that before the early payment, especially for roof, siding, kitchen, driveway, or storm-repair work. Ask for the exact business name, license number, and contract documents, then compare them with the county dashboard.
If the name on the truck, quote, and license do not line up, slow down and ask Consumer Protection before signing. Treat this as a sorting note.
Rockland County may need one office for Contractors and another for Home Improvement, depending on the address or record. The goal is to ask the right local question early. That can spare a second trip, a late fee, or a form sent to the wrong desk. Rockland County Home Improvement is the practical clue to keep.
