Sharon often gets remembered through Sharon Springs, but the town has an older, wider story underneath that village name. Schoharie County places Sharon in the county’s western hill country, and local history threads the area through older settlement names, rural roads, and the mineral-water reputation that later made Sharon Springs famous.

That is a useful way to read the place. The spa village is the bright sign on the map, but the town around it is not just a backdrop. It has farm roads, hamlet edges, old family ground, and a history that reaches back before the resort years. A person who only looks for the famous spring story can miss the older town shape.

So Sharon is best understood in two layers. One layer is the remembered spa and Main Street visitor story. The other is the quieter town story: hill farms, roads, older names, local government, and the small places that make the village feel less like a standalone attraction and more like part of Schoharie County country.
