St. George Ferry Parking Needs the Official Lot Check
A Staten Island ferry commute can hinge on the St. George municipal lot rules, rates, hours, and ParkNYC zone.

A Staten Island ferry plan can fall apart on parking, not on the boat. NYC DOT lists the Ferry Terminal South #1 Municipal Parking Field at 1 Bay Street beside the Staten Island Ferry Terminal.
The official lot listing says it has 222 spaces, including 9 ADA-accessible spaces, operates Monday to Saturday 24 hours except Sunday, and accepts ParkNYC, credit cards, coins, and dollar coins. The listed rate is $2 per hour, with a $16 maximum and an 18-hour limit. DOT’s ferry schedule page separately reminds riders that the ferry is free and the trip between St. George and Whitehall is about 25 minutes.
Check the lot early, then the sailing time. If you are commuting, note the payment method, maximum stay, and Sunday exception before you build a plan around driving to St. George. DOT’s lot page and the ferry schedule answer different questions, and both can matter on the same morning.
That little bit of planning can spare a stressful start. Parking, payment, walking time, and the next sailing all meet at the terminal, so the ferry trip really begins before the ramp.
