Whitehall Village Bills Have a Separate Water and Tax Lane

Whitehall residents should distinguish village water and sewer payments, village tax payments, DPW emergencies, and town office questions.

Whitehall’s town-and-village setup is a good reminder to read the label on the bill before acting. The shared town-and-village record keeps a village lane for office hours, village board and planning board meetings, online water and sewer payments, and Village of Whitehall tax payments.

It also gives a village DPW cell number for village water or sewer emergencies. Village Clerk/Treasurer business points to 57 Skenesborough Drive, Suite 2. Town business points to the Town Clerk at Suite 1, with town officials such as the Assessor and Compliance Officer listed on the town side.

That is a small address detail with real consequences. Suite 2 and Suite 1 can mean different governments.

For a resident, the good habit is to match the paper to the government named on it. Village water or sewer bill, use the village lane. Village tax payment, use the village tax lane. Town assessment, town planning, or town clerk question, switch to the town page.

Whitehall is local and neighborly, but the town/village split still matters when money or paperwork is moving.
