Wyoming Food Permits Need the Form and Fee Together

Wyoming County’s food permit form is a good reminder that the application is not just a name and a menu. The online Application for Permit to Operate asks for workers’ compensation and disability documentation or an exemption, then puts the payment step right in the form.

Checks go to the Wyoming County Health Department at 5362 Mungers Mill Road in Silver Springs. Payment may also be made online. If it is not paid online, the form should be printed and mailed with the appropriate fee.

The signature area is plain about the stakes: operating without a valid permit is a violation of the State Sanitary Code. Before serving food to the public, keep the permit form, fee choice, insurance or exemption paperwork, menu, equipment list, operating dates, and contact person together. If the event has more than one table or kitchen, label which permit folder goes with which operation.

This is not glamorous paperwork, but it is the kind that keeps an opening day from turning into a phone-and-printer scramble. A food stand has enough moving parts already; the permit folder should not be the missing one.
