Albany Residential Parking Permits Are a Clerk Errand
Albany residents in permit zones should bring license, registration, and the right payment method before applying at the City Clerk.

Albany’s residential parking permit program is a practical detail that matters before a lease, move-in, or new job near a permit zone.
The City Clerk’s parking permit page says residential parking applications are available and that the office accepts new applications Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It also says a valid driver’s license and vehicle registration are necessary at the time of application, and payment is cash or check just. The Parking Violations Bureau adds a useful enforcement point: parking in a permit zone without the permit is limited to two hours total per day in the zone, and moving the car does not restart the clock. Bring the documents before testing the rule.
Treat this as a sorting note. Albany may need one office for Parking Permits and another for City Clerk, depending on the address or record.
The goal is to ask the right local question early. That can spare a second trip, a late fee, or a form sent to the wrong desk. Albany City Clerk is the practical clue to keep.
