Greene DMV can handle plates, local renewals, and E-ZPass
Greene County DMV is useful for plate choices, local renewals, permit testing, E-ZPass, and separating road-test scheduling from the Catskill counter.

Greene County DMV is more than a license-renewal counter. At the Catskill office, residents can order many plate types, including plates for cars, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, livery vehicles, buses, and other commercial vehicles. Customized vanity plates are part of that local plate route too.
The Catskill office also handles permit testing, original and renewal driver licenses, abstracts, restricted and conditional licenses, and Drinking Driver Program enrollment. Greene County encourages local renewals, and it sells E-ZPass devices during office hours.
Road tests still need their own state plan. The scheduling system looks for dates near the ZIP code a driver gives, but the test does not have to be in the county where the driver lives. During busy school-break seasons, the first available date can be farther out than a family expects.
That makes a good Greene County folder pretty simple: counter task, plate or renewal choice, E-ZPass need, and state road-test appointment kept separate.
It is a Catskill counter for some things and a statewide calendar for others. A resident in Coxsackie, Cairo, Windham, Athens, or Hunter can save time by deciding which lane the errand belongs in before heading to Main Street.
