Livingston County Clerk and DMV questions share a building, not a purpose

Livingston residents should separate County Clerk records from DMV errands before planning a trip or mailing paperwork.

Livingston County puts County Clerk and DMV information close together, but the errands are not the same. The Livingston County Clerk route is for records and filings: public-records search, property alerts, court-record duties, notary notices, and mortgage recordings. The Livingston County DMV route is for motor-vehicle work. That includes the Geneseo and Dansville locations, appointments, walk-ins, testing, mail, and drop-box transactions.

That split matters when you are carrying original documents or trying to finish a title, passport, permit, plate, recording, or notary task on a lunch break. Some Livingston County DMV transactions are not available at every location, so the Geneseo-or-Dansville choice can be part of the paperwork. Name the task before you leave home. Use the clerk route for records and filings. Use the DMV route for license, registration, title, plate, and test work. If a county instruction calls for an appointment or completed paperwork, treat that as part of the errand, not a detail to solve at the counter. Use the note as a small map. Clerk and DMV belong with the right document, fee, appointment, or local doorway.
