Madison Back Taxes Need Newest-Year Payment Planning
Madison County Treasurer's page says multi-year property-tax payments begin with the newest tax year, then work backward.

Madison County’s Treasurer route has one small instruction that can save a long payment call: when more than one tax year is being paid, the newest tax must be paid ahead of older years. The Treasurer in Wampsville also lists payment choices by mailed check or money order, online e-check, and debit or credit card. That is the lane for a catch-up plan, especially if a closing, refinance, estate question, or family payment is driving the errand.
Before sending money, list every tax year involved, the parcel or account information, whether any bill is still with a local collector, and the payment method you plan to use. Then get the current amount and payment order straight with the Madison County Treasurer. Local collection, delinquent collection, tax searches, and payment processing can land in different places, and a multi-year payment is not the time to guess.
Keep the payment notes, fee details, and any confirmation together so the next call starts from the same record. Paying years in the wrong order, or using the wrong office, can make a catch-up plan messier than it needs to be.
