Use DECinfo Locator Before an Outdoor Plan
DECinfo Locator can put outdoor recreation layers and nearby environmental records on the same map before you pick a route or launch.

DECinfo Locator is a good pre-trip map when a place has recreation appeal and environmental questions. It is an interactive map for DEC documents, public environmental data, and outdoor recreation information. Icons show that information is available. They do not automatically mean a site has a problem.
It helps when checking a fishing access, trail, wetland edge, or nearby regulated facility. The practical route is the Outdoor Activity tab, zoom until layers turn active, and click map features for links. Treat it as a starting point for the right DEC page or permit contact. Separate what this record proves from the next permit, tax, title, inspection, or court question.
The clean move in New York is to turn the question into one named record. From NYSDEC: DECinfo Locator, save the exact decinfo locator or maps, the date, and the number or address that would let an office find the same thing again. Write New York State Department of Environmental Conservation beside the note, especially when a later question turns on money, title, access, a permit, a license, or a deadline. New York decinfo locator or maps follow-up goes better when the next call starts with the exact words from the form or notice.
