Otsego DBAs Start With the Name Check
Otsego County business-name paperwork is smoother when the DBA name check, notarized form, payment, and certified copy are planned together.

A business name can feel settled before the paperwork catches up. In Otsego County, the DBA step starts with the County Clerk, where the name is checked before the certificate is filed.
Keep the business name, owner names, address, notary plan, payment, and photo ID together before the clerk counter or mailbox comes into play. If a bank account will use the business name, plan for a certified copy too; that copy may be part of the account-opening packet.
The fee pattern is simple enough to write on the folder: $25 for the DBA filing, plus $5 for each certified copy. Amendments also carry a $25 filing fee plus certified-copy cost, while a discontinuance has no filing fee. Online forms should wait for a notary before they are signed.
Do not treat the DBA as every approval a business might need. Otsego County separates corporations, LLCs, and LPs from this county filing and sends those state-level formations to the New York State Department of State. For a small shop, side business, farm stand name, or service business, that split is the part to get straight early: county name filing on one side, state business formation on the other.
