Putnam Delinquent Tax Questions Go to Finance

Putnam's finance pages separate current online tax payments from delinquent liens handled by the Commissioner of Finance.

Published June 23, 2026 · Last verified June 23, 2026

Putnam County’s tax-payment route has a clear dividing line. Processing fees apply, and taxpayers with delinquent tax liens can call the Commissioner of Finance at 845-808-1080. The Commissioner of Finance collects delinquent taxes and the second half of a partial school-tax payment, with checks made payable to the Commissioner of Finance. This route applies when a bill has moved beyond routine current collection.

Identify whether the amount due is a current local bill or a delinquent lien before sending money. Keep the bill, parcel or account number, school-tax payment record, quoted balance, processing fee, payee, and receipt together.
