Schuyler driveway pipes need the Highway Department before the shovel
Schuyler County driveway and highway-work permits should be checked before changing a county-road entrance, pipe, or shoulder.

Schuyler County driveway work often comes down to a small but important detail: what happens at the road edge. A pipe that is too small, a ditch that stops working, or an entrance that is placed badly can turn a private project into a public-road problem.
The county has a separate Driveway Installation and Replacement Permit for new or replacement driveways. For a new driveway, the Highway Department contact comes before installation so a representative can discuss the plan and visit the site.
That pre-installation visit is not just ceremony. It helps determine pipe size, pipe length, and policy terms. Driveway and highway work permits are available through the Highway Department office.
Schuyler’s road map makes that sensible. Hills, lake roads, Watkins Glen traffic, farm drives, forest roads, and narrow shoulders can all put drainage and sight distance into the same conversation.
Before calling, collect the address, road name, driveway location, photos of the ditch and shoulder, and whether the work involves a new pipe, replacement pipe, grading, or contractor access. In Schuyler County, the best time to talk about the driveway pipe is before the pipe is bought.
