Delaware County property-tax questions start with the local collector for current bills and move to the County Treasurer for past-due taxes.

Delaware County tax errands get easier when you sort the bill by age before calling. A current town, village, or school tax bill usually starts with the local collector. A past-due tax question belongs with the County Treasurer.
That split sounds small until a buyer, seller, heir, or new owner is trying to confirm what is still open. A school bill, a village bill, and a town or county bill may not all be sitting in the same office at the same time. Delaware County’s Real Property Tax Services page puts the basic division plainly: local collectors for current taxes, County Treasurer for past-due taxes.
Keep the parcel number, owner name, tax year, municipality, school district, and the kind of bill in front of you. If a closing statement says taxes were paid, match the receipt to the right collector and year before assuming the whole property is clear.
For a Delaware County property folder, make one simple page with the local collector, County Treasurer, Real Property Tax Services office in Delhi, and the date each balance was checked. That page saves a lot of back-and-forth later.
