Orange Event Food Permits Belong on the Festival Calendar
Orange County temporary food permits should be part of event planning before the menu and booth map feel settled.

Orange County food-event planning should leave room for the health permit before the booth map hardens. The Health Department keeps temporary food service materials with its applications, forms, permits, and documents, including a permit application and a FAQ for farmers markets, fairs, festivals, and fundraisers.
The county FAQ draws the line around potentially hazardous foods at temporary events. It also sets a simple clock: the completed application and fee must reach the Orange County Department of Health at least 14 days before the event.
That clock changes the planning mood. A booth in Goshen, Newburgh, Middletown, Warwick, Port Jervis, or a school parking lot may look relaxed from the walkway. Behind the table, somebody still needs to know the menu, cold holding, hot holding, water source, handwashing setup, and who is responsible for the food.
Put the permit next to the site permission and volunteer list. The event stays easier when the food plan can still be changed. A small calendar note can save a lot of awkward phone calls the week of a fair, fundraiser, or school event.
